The fashion industry noticed Artis when he showcased his first collection ‘Casual Superhuman’ in 2006. Afterwards, he joined creative forces with his fellow student Indra Miklāva in designing the Black Label collection, which brought them their first international recognition – Grand Prix at the Fashion Assembly competition in Moscow in 2007, and 2nd place at the Admiralty Needle competition in St Petersburg. Meanwhile, he began creating his own conceptual fashion design collections under the Artis Štamgūts brand, finding a balance between design and art. Artis has said that his outfits are designed as wearable art objects, and his goal in the process is not to lose the aspect of being an artist.
It took him almost 10 years to get to the creation of his own ready-to-wear brand Status by Shtamguts. Experience gained at fashion experiments and creation of collections allowed the designer to master his individual style and make a decision about establishing his company in 2015. The brand’s motto is “Made to dare! Future for today!” The brand’s target audience is strong individualists – people who mark the characteristics of the age and future.
The key feature of the Status by Shtamguts brand is the emphasis put on clothing construction as a decorative and innovative element by using synthesis of details, fabric tones, textures and the way of manufacturing, and even coming up with new solutions for classical objects. The fashion designer’s idea is to create clothes whose fabric, as well as technical and visual quality allow the wearer to use them for several seasons.
