Latvian Fashion week Fashion Manifestation 15.11-17.11

From November 15 to 17, Latvian Fashion week FASHION MANIFESTATION will take place in Riga, showing twenty fashion collections from both established and young designers. The venue of the event will be Riga Chair factory and the fashions shows will be open to general public Fashion Manifestation, initiated and organised by Latvian Fashion Chamber, continues the tradition to show local fashion brands’ latest collections to a wider public, as well as to hold discussions and events to present and expand Latvian design and fashion products in foreign markets. Kate Stroža “Young Talent” Finalist

Kate Stroža graduated the clothing design programme at Daugavpils Design and arts college “Saules Skola” in 2017 Creation of the Ready to wear collection “Kompromiss” has been inspired by the designers Rad Hourani and Moyuru. Models of the collection are intentionally created in different styles to be suitable for different lifestyle situations – at work, at home and on the road. Clothing elements of each model can be combined and swapped in different ways, thus acquiring a completely new image. The uniting element is linen, natural and so typical of Latvia.

Annemarija Gulbe “Young Talent” Finalist

Annemarija Gulbe is a graduate of Riga Design and Arts school, 2017 Her collection The Search and found has been inspired by the amber and the persons looking for amber, their return from the sea and intension to integrate in the society and overcome the shyness. Associations with amber are created by using the material print and elements of massive form representing protection from the coastal winds and society. Collection consists of coats, skirt and trousers.

Ieva Ruka “Young Talent” Finalist

Ieva Ruka has graduated RISEBAA with a BA in Business Management; during her studies she has also created and successfully continues to run the wedding dress design Studio „Amelia”. To improve her knowledge in fashion, she currently continues her studies in fashion management, 1st year at Latvia Culture College. Ieva’s wedding dresses collection has been created with an intention to unite a fragile and light aura with comfort. Each dress is handmade, created with love of the master.

Anita Leina “Young Talent” Finalist

Anita Leina is a graduate of Riga Design and Art College. After studies at the Academy of Arts of Latvia, fashion design department, she graduated with the bachelor’s degree, and now continues her studies for the master’s degree. During her studies she has also worked as a window display designer for five years. “FUN BOX” is an experimental collection intended to create functional clothing for active persons and water sport fans. The inspiration for the collection is the designer’s hobby- wakeboarding. Anita can be proud of her distinguished success, twice being the champion of Latvia. The collection consists of casual clothing items for everyday wearing and for water sports. The items are made of windproof material supplemented by sporty details….

Melānija Vilka “Young Talent” Finalist

Melānija Vilka has graduated the fashion design department of the Academy of Arts of Latvia in 2017, and continues her studies for the master’s degree. Last year she participated in the competition “The new talent” with the collection “Pacoshark”, and currently participates in the competition of the new stylists “The master of Riga style”. Collection “City Gardener” is Melanija’s graduation work. It is based on the idea of a woman – a gardener, who is exploring herself and reaching for perfection through gardening. The initial idea has come from a classical tailoring, where the form and silhouette depend on functionality, with a great stress laid on proportion. Džūlija Gašpuite, collection “Signs in time” Džūlija Gašpuite is a graduate of Riga Technical School of Tourism and Creative industries, clothing design department, 2017. Collection “The signs in time” is created in honour of Latvia’s Centenary, inspired by the ethnographical symbols. The national style is reflected by the modernized symbols and linen material. Ksenija Belca-Beslere has graduated Latvia Academy of Arts this year, BA in fashion art, continues her studies for MA. She is the creator and developer of the female clothing brand KBB. Anete Agneta Krišjanova has graduated Latvia Academy of Arts with MA this year, and continues her doctoral studies. Anna Elizabete Kasparsone, a graduate of the product technology and design department at Riga technical university, BA, with a qualification of product designer. Currently second year student at Latvia Academy of Arts, fashion department. Last year she participated in the competition “New talent” with her collection Et Dieu Crea la Femme. Collection “Unconventional’” is telling the story about a modern human composed and directed by nature. The concept of the collection is the mutual synthesis of a human and nature.. Nowadays, integrating into urban lifestyle, sustainability and naturalness have acquired even greater value.
