From October 19 to 22 the Latvian Fashion Week FASHION MANIFESTATION will take place in Riga, where everyone will be able to make sure of variety of the Latvian fashion brands, by observing more than 20 different brand collections and applications. On the fashion shows the clothes created by favorite local fashion designers, as well as the clothes by the brands that experienced rapid development and the clothes by the new talents will be observable. The participants under the New talents category, as well as the application of the new brand SLOW could be the most intriguing events of the forthcoming fashion week.
In order to foster the faster integration of the Latvian fashion design students into industry and the faster development of the local fashion industry, as one of the Latvian Fashion Week set priorities is the presentation of the values of the rising fashion designers. For the implementation of this priority henceforth the Latvian Fashion Week will be given a special participation category Young talents. The fashion design students who are residents of Latvia are invited to participate in this category. To evaluate the collections created by the rising design professionals and to choose the best one, a jury will be inolved, which will include both the Latvian and the foreign experts.
„I am pleased to announce that the Latvian Fashion Week expands, starting to build a platform for international cooperation. This will include the creation of the mutual cooperation with the diplomatic corps of the different countries and the associations of the fashion designers, to jointly foster participation of the fashion designers from both countries in the fashion weeks, fashion showroom, trade fairs and conjoint projects organized by the second country, thereby contributing to the development of the fashion enterprises and industry. This autumn we announce interstate cooperation project with Uzbekistan, within which the country’s popular brand MarU will show it’s latest collection in Riga”, claims the curator of the Latvian Fashion Week Dita Danosa.
Latvian Fashion Week on October 19 will begin with the discussion „The directions of the export markets of the Latvian fashion brands”, where the fashion designers together with the stakeholders in the development of fashion industry will share their experience and discuss the necessary premises for purchase of the Latvian fashion products and the most attractive Latvian fashion export markets.
On Thursday, October 20, the shows of the young talents’ of Art Academy of Latvia, Riga School of Design and Art and Riga Technical University collections will take place, which will be judged by the international jury. On October 20 and 21 an audience will be able to evaluate the variety of Latvian fashion too. In this context the public will be able to evaluate the shows of the brands that have recently experienced the rapid development – IN by Inga Nipane, CECINANINA, Vita Radziņa, Baiba Ladiga, Status by Shtamguts, Helen Chaude. The latest achievements will be also demonstrated by the well-known fashion brands – Žanete Auziņa, Alexander Pavlov. There are also applications made by the two new brands – M50 and SLOW (the brand, created by Elīna Štobe). On Saturday, October 22, the fashion tongue will be devoted to the kids brands Petra.lv, Leny Tomy Factory and Hebe.
The Fashion Week will take place in the VEF Creative Quarter, block No. 7, Ūnijas street 4. Anyone interested in fashion shows is invited. The tickets will be available at Biļešu serviss salespoints. The fashion shows will be streaming on smartphones and will be translated on national TV channel Riga TV24.
The curator of the FASHION MANIFESTATION is Dita Danosa, the author of visual identity is the fashion designer Žanete Auziņa and the photographer is Elizabete Džeina Rubene, in collaboration with the model Anna Kugele and the makeup artist Jeļena Kaņuka. The author of graphic design is Kirils Kirasirovs.
Latvian Fashion Week is the platform for demonstration and popularization of newly created values of the Latvian fashion designers and brands to wide spectrum of the Latvian fashion brands. At national (Latvian) level it gives a unique opportunity to a fashion brand at any stage of its’ development to show it’s latest collection to the wider public. The aim is to raise public awareness of the Latvian fashion on the whole, in order to promote the accessibility of fashion brands to wider public in business and consumers’ markets in Latvia and foreign countries. In 2016, Latvian Fashion Week has been granted the „nationally significant cultural event” status in the State Culture Capital Foundation, because it implements the project which is significant to cultural space.
The organizer of the Latvian Fashion Week is the Latvian Fashion Chamber association – the largest and the most active non-governmental organization in Latvia, formed by fashion professionals in 2010. The aim of the organization is to develop and promote the growth of Latvian fashion industry, by organizing fashion shows, discussions, presentations, matchmaking, in this way providing the Latvian designers and brands with an opportunity to present new collections to the costumer segment at both local and international levels, and also to support Latvian fashion consumption in society.
